About this course

The Solar PV Site Surveyor Course is a 36-hour practical training program.

It is designed to equip learners with the skills required to perform accurate site assessments for residential, commercial, and small industrial solar installations. The course focuses on evaluating site feasibility, collecting technical measurements, analyzing environmental and structural conditions, and preparing survey reports that guide PV system design and installation teams.

Through structured modules, participants learn:

– Basics of solar PV systems and survey objectives
– Assessment of rooftop structures (RCC, metal, tiled, industrial sheds)
– Measurement techniques for roof dimensions, tilt, azimuth, and shading
– Use of survey tools: compass, inclinometer, laser measuring device, sun-path apps, drones (optional)
– Load-bearing analysis and structural suitability checks
– Environmental assessment: irradiance levels, wind load, dust exposure, and obstacles
– Electrical survey: cable routes, panel locations, earthing points, inverter placement
– Understanding DISCOM, MNRE, and net-metering requirements
– Preparation of survey reports, SLD inputs, and BOQ recommendations

Hands-on sessions include roof measurement practice, shading analysis, site sketching, equipment placement planning, and data collection for PV design software.
